The Grove Frisco is going to the dogs, with 2 dog parks and 3 new dog-friendly businesses
With two dog parks and three new dog-friendly businesses devoted to keeping our pets happy and healthy, The Grove Friso has really gone to the dogs.
Our second dog park, Puppy Prairie, has joined our original dog park, the Gartner Bark Park, to provide safe and sociable places for pooches to run free and meet other four-legged friends. The Grove Frisco’s canine residents also enjoy miles of trails and many other parks where they are welcome on leashes.
In early 2024, three new dog-friendly businesses are opening in The Arbors on Custer, our first onsite shopping center, joining other businesses that include cafés, restaurants, salons and professional offices.
Offering a full range of healthy food, supplies and grooming, Pet Evolution is like a “Whole Foods for dogs,” says co-owner Brigitte Robertson.
A longtime resident of McKinney, one of the Four Corners cities surrounding The Grove Frisco, Brigitte says she chose The Arbors on Custer because of the community’s impressive growth.
“We live near The Grove Frisco, and we know what an amazing, dog-friendly community this is,” she says. “The residents we’ve met so far are very interested in healthy foods, and our self-service dog bathing stations have been very popular.”
Pet Evolution also has a mobile nail trimming van that has started making the rounds throughout The Grove Frisco, and they plan to start adoption events and educational presentations on topics such as allergies.
Scenthound Frisco East is also open in The Arbors on Custer, offering a membership-based solution to routine dog care and grooming needs, including bathing, ear cleaning, nail trimming and teeth brushing. Three membership options are available. Scenthound also keeps dog owners informed with regular health checks and technology-based wellness tracking.
Custer Road Animal Hospital is also now open in The Arbors on Custer, offering emergency treatment and routine medical, surgical, and dental care.
The team includes Dr. Jacob Mireles, a 2006 graduate of Texas A&M Veterinary College, who has been practicing in Plano for 13 years. His passion for veterinary medicine can be traced back to Dottie, his childhood Dalmatian, and the respect and admiration his family had for their veterinarian. His professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and client education. In his free time, Dr. Mireles enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters, who share their home with a Labrador and two Chihuahuas.
Dr. Fran Hoffpauir focuses on the care of dogs, cats, as well as exotic pets and wildlife. Growing up in North Texas, she volunteered at the Richardson Animal Shelter as a teenager, learning to care for a variety of species and solidifying her love of animals and pursuit of veterinary science. Since graduating from Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2014, she has worked to support pet health and wellness with a practical and informed approach.
